On a recent visit, my esthetician Elizabeth Rabena suggested I include more turmeric in my diet to help reduce inflammation and support skin vitality. I took that advice and then looked into other foods known for their skin-friendly nutrients. The result is this smoothie: blueberries for antioxidants, avocado for healthy fats and nourishment, and soy-based yogurt and milk for a smooth, protein-rich base. I also added ginger, cinnamon, flaxseed and a touch of natural sweetener to round out the flavor and nutrition.

The recipe is naturally gluten-free. If you want to keep it strictly vegan, substitute the honey with maple syrup or another plant-based sweetener. This smoothie makes a satisfying breakfast or a nourishing snack any time of day.

Tips: Use frozen blueberries or pre-chill the fruit and ice for an extra-thick texture. For a silkier consistency, a splash more soy milk can be added. If you prefer a stronger spice note, increase the fresh ginger slightly; for a milder flavor, reduce the turmeric to ½ teaspoon. This smoothie is versatile—swap the soy yogurt for another dairy-free alternative if needed, and adjust sweetness to taste.

Enjoy this skin-friendly blueberry avocado smoothie as part of a balanced diet. The combination of antioxidants from berries, nourishing fats from avocado, and warming spices makes for a delicious and satisfying start to the day.
