Fresh lemons and strawberries blended with bubbly prosecco create a bright, refreshing Lemon Berry Prosecco Sangria—an easy, crowd-pleasing cocktail perfect for spring and summer gatherings.

If you follow me on Instagram you might know I’m a regular at a neighborhood spot that feels like my own version of “Cheers.” It’s the kind of place I return to because I love what they make—and one of my favorites is their Prosecco Mint Sangria. I recreated that bright, bubbly drink at home and refined it into a simple Lemon Berry Prosecco Sangria you can mix up in minutes.
This strawberry and lemon prosecco sangria is light, fruity, and fizzy. With only a handful of ingredients—lemons, strawberries, a little sugar (or a liquid sweetener), and a chilled bottle of prosecco—you’ll have a refreshing sparkling sangria that’s ideal for parties, brunches, or lazy summer afternoons.

Step by step instructions
- Muddle lemon slices with sugar. Place thinly sliced lemon in the bottom of a pitcher or punch bowl and sprinkle the sugar over the lemon slices. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press and mash the lemon slices until some juice is released and the sugar begins to dissolve.
- Muddle the strawberries. Add sliced, hulled strawberries to the pitcher and mash them gently with the lemons and sugar to release their juices and natural sweetness.
- Add the prosecco. Pour a chilled bottle of prosecco into the pitcher and stir gently to combine the fruit and bubbles. Taste and add more sweetener if desired.
- Serve over ice. Place ice in individual glasses and pour the sangria over the ice. Serve immediately. (Avoid adding ice to the entire pitcher unless you plan to serve it right away—melting ice will dilute the drink over time.)

Tips and tricks
- Make it ahead. You can prepare this sangria up to 8 hours in advance and refrigerate it, but for the best fizz and texture serve within that timeframe so the prosecco stays bubbly.
- Add fresh mint for a twist. If you enjoy a hint of herb, add about 1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves to the pitcher and muddle them along with the fruit and sugar for a minty lift.
- Swap the sparkling wine. Prosecco works beautifully, but a sparkling rosé or brut will also pair well with the fruit and add a slightly different character.
- Choose your sweetener. Granulated sugar dissolves easily when muddled with lemon, but you can substitute honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar if you prefer a liquid sweetener.
- Protect the bubbles. Stir gently after adding prosecco to maintain carbonation. Avoid vigorous shaking or blending.
What to serve with sangria
This sparkling sangria pairs wonderfully with light, shareable appetizers and brunch dishes. It’s perfect for celebrations—bridal showers, pool parties, or a casual weekend get-together. Try serving it with any of the following:
- Avocado bruschetta or tomato basil bruschetta
- Chips and a creamy avocado salsa
- Baked brie puff pastry bites or crostini assortments
- Bacon-wrapped dates or other savory finger foods
For a boozy brunch, pair the sangria with strawberry pancakes, a spinach and goat cheese frittata with bacon, crepes, a caprese avocado omelette, or waffles—each offering sweet or savory notes that complement the bright citrus and berry flavors.

Ingredients
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or substitute honey, maple syrup, or agave)
- 1/4 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 750 ml bottle prosecco, chilled
Instructions
- Place the lemon slices in the bottom of a pitcher or punch bowl.
- Sprinkle the sugar over the lemon and muddle to release the juices and dissolve the sugar.
- Add the sliced strawberries and muddle gently until juices are released.
- Pour the chilled prosecco into the pitcher and stir gently to combine.
- Serve immediately over ice in individual glasses, or refrigerate up to 8 hours and serve chilled.
Notes
- Do not add ice to the entire pitcher if you won’t serve it right away—melting ice will dilute the sangria.
- Muddling means gently mashed to release juices and aromas; a muddler or the back of a spoon works fine.
- To add mint, include about 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves and muddle with the fruit for a refreshing herbal note.
- Any dry or off-dry sparkling wine can be used in place of prosecco for a slightly different flavor profile.
