Grilled strawberries and blueberries give a fresh, delicious twist to classic s’mores, making a perfect patriotic and summery dessert. Below you’ll find four easy ways to make grilled berry s’mores — on a grill, on the stove, in the oven, or over a campfire.

Bring the sweet flavor of summer to your next BBQ
There’s something irresistible about a warm, melty s’more: gooey marshmallow, melting chocolate and a crunchy graham cracker all in one hand. This updated version adds grilled berries — strawberries and blueberries — which become sweeter and pick up a subtle smoky char on the grill.
These berry s’mores are nostalgic and simple to make for backyard gatherings, lake trips, or camping. Grilled fruit works wonderfully as either the star of a dessert skewer or tucked into a decadent s’more. You can make them outdoors on a grill, on the stovetop with an indoor grill pan, in the oven under the broiler, or roasted over a campfire.

What you’ll need to make Berry S’Mores
- Graham crackers – honey graham crackers are classic; cinnamon or chocolate graham crackers work well too.
- Marshmallows – two large marshmallows per s’more or one jumbo marshmallow each.
- Chocolate bars – milk chocolate is traditional; try dark chocolate or salted chocolate for variation.
- Fresh strawberries and blueberries – stems removed from strawberries.
- Cooking surface options – outdoor grill, indoor grill pan, baking sheet with broiler, or campfire.
- Metal skewers – useful for grilling berries and toasting marshmallows safely.
- Optional tools – a s’mores grilling rack or roasting kit can make melting chocolate and toasting marshmallows easier, but it’s not required.

How to make Berry S’mores — 4 ways
How to make them on the grill
- Prepare the ingredients. Thread marshmallows onto metal skewers (about 6 per skewer if using large marshmallows). Place chocolate squares on 6 graham cracker halves. Skewer strawberries (stems removed) and blueberries separately.
- Grill the berries. Over medium heat, grill strawberry and blueberry skewers for 3–4 minutes, turning once halfway, until slightly charred and fragrant. Remove and set aside.
- Melt the chocolate. Place the chocolate-topped graham crackers on a s’mores rack if you have one, or on a piece of foil on the top rack of the grill away from direct flame. Heat 3–4 minutes until the chocolate softens.
- Toast the marshmallows. Toast marshmallows over the grill on skewers, turning every 30–60 seconds, until golden and gooey, about 3–4 minutes total.
- Assemble. Top each chocolate-covered graham cracker with one grilled strawberry and about four grilled blueberries, add two toasted marshmallows, and sandwich with a second graham cracker. Serve immediately.
Make them on the stove
- Use an indoor grill pan. Follow the same prep for skewers, then grill the berries on a heated indoor grill pan over medium heat for 3–4 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Softening chocolate on the grill pan. Place chocolate-topped graham crackers on the warm grill pan and wait 3–4 minutes for the chocolate to soften, then remove carefully with a spatula.
- Toast marshmallows over the burner. Hold marshmallows on skewers above a turned-on burner, rotating until browned to your preference.
- Assemble and enjoy. Add the grilled berries and toasted marshmallows to the chocolate-covered graham crackers and serve.
How to make them in the oven
- Preheat the broiler. Set the oven on high broil and position a rack 5–6 inches from the top element.
- Arrange on a baking sheet. Place graham cracker squares topped with chocolate and marshmallows on a baking sheet. Place berry skewers alongside on the sheet.
- Broil briefly. Watch closely: broil until marshmallows puff and brown and the chocolate begins to soften — usually 30–60 seconds. Remove immediately.
- Finish and serve. Remove berries from skewers. Place one grilled strawberry and about four blueberries on each chocolate-topped cracker, add marshmallows and top with a second cracker.
Make them over a campfire
- Prepare for open flame. Use long metal skewers for marshmallows and fruit. Place chocolate squares on graham crackers and set nearby.
- Char the berries. Hold berry skewers over the campfire, rotating frequently for 3–4 minutes until warmed and slightly charred.
- Toast marshmallows. Toast marshmallows over the fire, rotating until golden and gooey.
- Assemble outdoors. Place the grilled berries and toasted marshmallows on the chocolate-covered graham crackers, top and enjoy straight from the firelight.
