In a single pot and in about 20 minutes, you can prepare a succulent shrimp piccata pasta tossed in a bright lemon, garlic and white wine sauce.

Lemon, butter, white wine, garlic and capers—this one-pot shrimp piccata delivers that classic piccata flavor in a light pasta dinner. It’s fast, flavorful and ideal for busy weeknights when you want something delicious without a lot of cleanup.

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large shallot, minced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup white wine
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp fresh Italian parsley, chopped
- ½ lb spaghetti noodles, broken in half
- 2½ cups chicken broth
- 16 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ¼ cup capers, drained
- 4 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add the minced shallot and garlic and cook for 2–3 minutes until fragrant and slightly softened.
- Pour in the white wine and simmer for 1–2 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Add the lemon juice, chopped parsley, broken spaghetti and chicken broth. Increase the heat, bring to a boil, then cover, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for about 12 minutes, or until the pasta is nearly tender.
- Remove the lid, place the shrimp on top of the pasta, replace the lid and cook for another 3–4 minutes until the shrimp are cooked through and the pasta reaches your preferred doneness.
- Remove the lid again and stir in the capers, butter and Parmesan cheese until the butter melts and the sauce becomes silky and well combined.
- Serve immediately, topped with additional chopped parsley if desired.

The sauce—bright lemon, garlic, a splash of white wine and a pat of butter—keeps this dish flavorful but light. Capers add a briny pop that complements the shrimp, and finishing with Parmesan gives a gentle savory richness that ties everything together.

Tips, Variations and Serving Suggestions
Use a dry white wine that you enjoy drinking for the best flavor; if you prefer not to cook with alcohol, substitute an equal amount of additional chicken broth plus a teaspoon of white wine vinegar for brightness. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pasta and confirm your chicken broth is gluten-free. If you like more acid, add extra lemon juice to taste just before serving.
To boost the vegetable content, stir in a few handfuls of baby spinach or halved cherry tomatoes when you add the shrimp; they’ll wilt or soften quickly under the lid. For a creamier sauce, stir in 2–4 tablespoons of heavy cream with the butter and Parmesan at the end.
Serve this pasta with a simple green salad or roasted vegetables and a slice of crusty bread to soak up the sauce. A light white wine or sparkling water with lemon pairs nicely for beverages.
Storage and Reheating
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat with a splash of broth or water to loosen the sauce, or warm in short intervals in the microwave, stirring between intervals. Note that pasta and shrimp textures change after refrigeration, so reheat just until warmed through.
