There’s something irresistible about the smell of warm maple and cinnamon filling the kitchen. This maple cranberry walnut monkey bread brings that cozy aroma and a beautiful balance of sweet, tart, and crunchy textures to your table. It’s an ideal choice for holiday mornings, weekend brunches, or any gathering where you want an impressive but easy baked treat.

Although I first shared this recipe during a crisp fall season, it’s delicious year-round—whether you’re enjoying it by a fire with a mug of cider or serving it slightly warm on a sunny morning with iced coffee. The recipe is straightforward: canned biscuits keep prep time short, while a butter-brown-sugar-maple sauce with walnuts and cranberries creates the irresistible base that caramelizes as the bread bakes.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1½ cups dried cranberries, divided
  • 2 cans (16.3 oz each) refrigerated biscuits
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a bundt pan generously with cooking spray and set it aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and maple syrup and cook for 1–2 minutes, until the mixture is smooth and slightly bubbling.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chopped walnuts and 1 cup of the dried cranberries. Pour this mixture evenly into the prepared bundt pan.
  4. Cut each biscuit into quarters or bite-sized pieces. Place the biscuit pieces in a large resealable bag (or a bowl) and add the remaining ½ cup dried cranberries, the granulated sugar, and the ground cinnamon. Shake or toss until the biscuit pieces are evenly coated.
  5. Layer the coated biscuit pieces into the bundt pan over the maple-walnut mixture. Press gently to pack them in but don’t compress them tightly—air pockets help create a tender pull-apart texture.
  6. Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with only a few moist crumbs.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for 5–10 minutes. Place a large plate or serving platter over the bundt pan and carefully invert to release the monkey bread. If any sauce remains in the pan, spoon it over the top.
  8. Slice diagonally or pull apart and serve warm.

Notes & Tips

  • For even distribution, toss the walnut and cranberry mixture gently before pouring into the pan so the cranberries aren’t all concentrated in one spot.
  • Use full-flavored pure maple syrup for best results—maple adds warmth and depth that pairs beautifully with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • If you prefer a less-sweet version, reduce the granulated sugar coating to 1/3 cup or cut back slightly on the maple syrup, keeping in mind this will alter the caramelization.
  • To make this nut-free, substitute an equal volume of toasted seeds (pumpkin or sunflower) or omit them entirely and increase the dried cranberries slightly.

Storage, Make-Ahead & Reheating

Store any leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerated up to 4–5 days in an airtight container. To reheat, warm individual portions in the microwave for 15–30 seconds or reheat the whole loaf in a 325°F oven for 10–15 minutes, covered loosely with foil to prevent over-browning.
